MOTHER’S PUBLIC SCHOOL ,BBSR

Mother’s Public School was established in 1991 as ‘Prakrit’. It was the dream project of Mrs. Poly, the founder and mentor of the school. Being the first day-boarding school in Bhubaneswar, it became popular among the working mothers as it not only solved their problems but also reduced their tension. They no longer had to worry about the well-being of their children while they were at work.

The school started with 20 students with classes from Pre-Nursery to IV- teachers and non teaching staff in a lush green surrounding. The classes were held in small huts which reminded one of the Gurukul days. The school provided breakfast, lunch and snacks besides facilities for a comfortable nap in the afternoons.

As far as academics is concerned the school believed in the holistic development of the child and catered to his/her curricular, extracurricular and co-curricular needs. Tradition too was given importance and festivals like Raksha Bandhan, Diwali, Christmas, Saraswati Puja and Ganesh Puja were celebrated in the school to inculcate traditional values in a child.

Gradually the school progressed and in 1994,it became Mother’s School of Integral Education. Now it had its own building in the heart of the city. From here the school grew in leaps and bounds and today is popular as Mother’s Public School. It boasts of providing education to nearly 2000 students up to the +2 level in the Science and Commerce streams. In tune with the continuous and comprehensive evaluation(CCE) set by the CBSE, this institution endeavors to provide curriculum based learning .It has a good infrastructure, state of art classrooms, experienced and committed faculty members.Conceptual values of being a home away from home is retained by the school. Needs of the working mothers are catered to.Students are provided with quality education and valuable skills to march forward and face the challenges of the adult world.

STEWART SCHOOL ,CUTTACK

Stewart school, Cuttack has a tell-tale glorious past soaked in legends. Stewart School, Cuttack was founded by the enterprise and munificence of Dr. William Day Stewart, a Civil Surgeon based at Cuttack. In 1881, an urgent need for inception of an institution that would cater to the physical, social, intellectual and spiritual growth of the needy and destitute children of Europeans and Eurasians at Cuttack was sensed. To this effect, a meeting of European Community of Cuttack at the behest of Dr. Stewart, was held on 18th August 1882. As a result, the idea of an orphanage school was mooted and it took a concrete shape in November 1882. The orphanage school was an undenominational Protestant one and the Holy Bible served as the basis of moral teaching. In 1885, the orphanage school came to be known as the European school. The same year Dr. Stewart expressed his wish to be relieved of his duties as the Honorary Secretary. In 1888, a deed of gift was drawn up and Baptist Mission Society became the owner of the property. In 1891, the school was known as Protestant European School and the very same year the school was opened to Indian students. In 1910, the school was recognized as a Higher Elementary school by the Inspector of European Schools in Bihar and Orissa. In 1919, Secondary syllabus was adopted in the school. The school was re-christened as Stewart School in the afore-said year to perpetuate the name of its founder, Dr. William Day Stewart. In the year 1924, the school was confirmed in the status of Junior Secondary and the Cambridge Syndicate sanctioned the opening of a center for Cambridge Examinations in the school. In 1926, the school was upgraded to that of a Higher Secondary school. The expansion of school building was completed in 1937 and was inaugurated by his Excellency the Governor of Orissa on 6th January 1937 to meet the demands the exponential growth of the school. The reputation of the school spread far and wide attracting students even from remote regions of eastern India. The Stewart Science College was started on 1st July 1944 and both the school and the college functioned as a single unit for sometime. In 1948, separate managements were formed for the school and the college. In November 1948, N.C.C (Junior) was formed in the school. By this time, the fame of the school had reached unassailable heights. Its name had become synonymous with curricular and co-curricular excellence. In 1957, the Minister of Education, Orissa, impressed by the unblemished track record of Stewart School Cuttack, requested the Management to set up a school at Bhubaneswar. In the year 1960, the construction of the school building at Bhubaneswar began. In 1963, a new managing Committee was constituted for the smooth functioning of Stewart School at Bhubaneswar. In the year 1971, the reins of administration and management of Stewart Schools passed from Baptist Missionary Society on to the Diocese of Cuttack, Church of North India. In the year 1974, the school was affiliated to Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. To commemorate the saga of hundred years of unparalleled service of Stewart School, Cuttack to humanity the foundation stone for a huge Centenary Hall was laid in 1982 and the construction was completed in 1996. At present, Stewart School, Cuttack is the only Anglo-Indian School in Orissa. Thus, an institution started as an orphanage school by a magnanimous soul has grown into a nonpareil institution, in a class all by itself. It is the lengthened shadow of its founder. Though it has crossed hundreds of milestones, its pilgrimage towards perfection is on and on .

“Fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.” “Domini Timor Prima Sapientia.” This Biblical verse (Psalm 111:10) remains our guiding principle. (Here, fear stands for reverential awe of God, a reverence for His power and glory. In other words, it is a total acknowledgement of all that God is, which comes through knowing Him and all His attributes).

We firmly believe that God is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. He is the source of all knowledge. Therefore, our mission is to inculcate in young minds that God is the ultimate source of all knowledge and He is the greatest teacher. Stewart School believes that every child is entitled to enjoy his/her childhood. They should be valued for their individuality, culture and heritage. They should be encouraged to develop their full potential in a stimulating and caring environment.

Our School Objectives

  • To train young minds and mould character in such a way as to make young people socially compatible.
  • To promote patriotism, national integration, international understanding and thus make the children global citizens.
  • To imbibe the young minds with selflessness and fellow-feeling.
  • To Inculcate respect for our culture and values and thus make them flag-bearers of our traditions.
  • To make the process of education more interesting and less cumbersome through the use of modern technology.
  • To give the children freedom to truly explore life.
  • To Encourage independence and confidence.

We earnestly wish the children to take with them fond memories of their school days with us.

Our School Vision

To realize the vision of its founder i.e. to seek excellence not only in education but also widen the horizons of the young minds that would  be adequately equipped intellectually, emotionally, morally and spiritually to embrace the challenges in future and ultimately to lead them to be excellent professionals, dedicated and enlightened leaders, great homemakers, and global citizens endowed with global understanding and above all, to be good human beings acknowledging the Lordship of  our Creator.

DAV Public School, CDA, Cuttack, Odisha

D.A.V. Public School, CDA, Cuttack, the very name conjures up the vision of an institution dedicated to realize Swami Dayananda’s ideal. Since its inception in 1990 it has now acquired tremendous growth with nearly 5,300 students from Pre-Nursery to Senior Secondary level distributed in 109 sections. Our workforce comprises of 154 teaching staff, 45 non-teaching members and 23 employees in transport facility system. The majestic structure of its building proudly stands erect on a land of 4 acres in Abhinav Bidanasi amidst halcyon surroundings, far from the madding crowd of the city.

In a short span of time it made a quantum leap and made a phenomenal progress. The school has become an institution to be reckoned with. It has not only carved a niche for itself but also enjoys great renown of its own. It is directly managed by the DAV College Trust and Management Society, New Delhi. The school is endorsed with infrastructure essential for an ideal learning environment. All the class rooms are spacious, airy, lighted and well ventilated. They are also fitted with close circuit cameras for the close monitoring of the class activities. It is an institution where students are not only getting quality education but an all round grooming of their mind, body and soul. Since the inception of the school, our students have been very actively participating in various curricular & co-curricular activities and winning laurels at Zonal, State and National levels.

Students are the integral threads of our social weave. The stronger our threads, the more vibrant and strong is our society. This is why we focus on sensitizing our students with the contemporarily human issues and imbibing in them a human approach and out look. Our children time and again reach out to the under privileged brethren of the society on many occasions. One of them being “Joy of Giving Week” under which they visit many orphanages, arrange community lunches and identify areas where they heed help, thus grooming them into more humane and sensitive citizens.

Trying to fulfill swami Dayananda’s vision of being rooted to Indian Culture, yet keeping one’s mind open to global thoughts && innovations, we ensure that our children keep in touch with certain Vedic practices like performing HAVANS.

To satiate the inquisitive temperament of our students, Mathematics, Science & English seminars are conducted by the them. They are guided to prepare power point presentations. Their presentations are judged by a panel of judges who decide the best presentation. This activity has proved to be instrumental in arousing the Zeal, enthusiasm and creativity of our students. It helps them get rid of stage fear and infuse in them confidence and courage to communicate effectively. This helps them when they enter various technical institutions where such presentations are a part and parcel of the curriculum.

A House System is followed in the school in a loose imitation of democratic hierarchy. Head Boys and Head Girls are the leaders of the Cabinet. This cabinet comprises of Captains, Vice – Captains & Prefects selected from various houses. Every child from Class-IV onwards belongs to any one of the four houses viz. RIG HOUSE, YAJUR HOUSE, SAMA HOUSE & ATHARVA HOUSE. It inculcates in the children a sense of discipline, responsibility & belongingness to ensure optimism environment. In keeping with the theory of “Multiple Intelligence,” we believe that every child has some latent potential and we seek to make them aware of this.

Apart from, the prescribed academic curriculum, our infrastructure is so designed so as to provide optimum opportunities for students to develop and chisel their full potential. In other words “Child Empowerment”-is our credo, whereby by giving them the resources to understand their true calling and make the right choices in a world where transient values are buffetted by a stressful environment and knowledge explosion.

For us,education means to learn effectively, think creatively, develop adequate emotional intellect, apply and understand concepts to make decisions. The school meets the educational needs of the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and is developed on a sprawling 25 acres of land. Take a look at the infrastructure and facilities we offer to make your child explore, discover and learn. This is what makes us “EXCLUSIVELY DPS KALINGA”

ODM Public School

In the year 1989, 10 students entered into a small dingy room which was supposedly their school and this was the first step towards a big dream visualized by a visionary educationist Dr. Satyabrata Minaketan, the Founder-Chairman of ODM educational group. With numerous degrees into his pocket and myriad career options before him, this man chose an unsteady and thorny path of establishing a school which would be a school with a difference and serve the mankind with real knowledge. That small room with 10 students was the beginning of what you see today as ODM Public School.

With no external support and no godfather, the school rose to heights and crossed several milestones year after year. A secondary school was set-up for Socio-Economic Backward children in 1992 followed by the school’s secondary branch in 1996. It then moved into a small campus with 350 children. Soon the quality of education, individual attention to students saw the numbers rise each year. It was only in 2005, the school took a giant leap by opening the Senior Secondary branch which saw the enrollment of 35 students in its first year. Following that, ODM became the first +2 CBSE residential school in Odisha, when it first introduced residential facilities for Senior Secondary Science students. The School has witnessed its evolution from a small building to a sprawling campus spread on 4 acres of land with 5 main blocks, from 10 students to a whooping 3500, from 2 teaching faculties to a fleet of 300+ staff. In years to come, it will definitely target the pinnacle of success by imparting qualitative education to inspire and change lives.
