The Berhampur University came into existence on 2nd January 1967 being inaugurated by Dr. A.N. Khosla, the then Governor of Orissa and the first Chancellor of the University. The University was later shifted to the present site known as Bhanja Bihar, named after the celebrated poet of Orissa Kabisamrat Upendra Bhanja. Spreading over an area of about two hundred fifty acres the university is twelve kilometres and 5 kilometers away from the Berhampur City and Sea-beach of Gopalpur respectively.

The university has a wide area under its jurisdiction comprising the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Nowrangapur, Malkangiri, Kandhamala and Boudh. Eleven Govt. colleges, sixty two non Govt. colleges and twenty six professional technical colleges are affiliated to the university. To the credit of the university these institutes cater to the need of students in various subjects and disciplines such as Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, Education, Medicine, Engineering, Pharmacology, Homoeopathy, Ayurveda, Nursing, Military Science, Library Science and Fine Arts.

There are twenty post-graduate departments in the university offering specialized subjects and M. Phil programmes. Some of the faculties like Mass Communication, Tourism and Indian Monuments, Electronic Science, Computer Science, Marine Science, Military Science make the University stand apart from some other universities of the country.

The university has achieved great distinction in the academic world due to the qualitative and quantitative production of M. Phil., Ph.D., D. Litt and D. Sc degrees. So far many projects, major and minor funded by the U.G.C., I.C.S.S.R., C.S.I.R. and D.S.T. etc. have been completed. About two hundred fifty research oriented and text books have been published by the teachers. The university has the record of holding seminars and conferences every year apart from organising weekly seminars in the departments. Several U.G.C. sponsored Refresher Courses/Orientation Programmes/Summer Institutes are conducted in the university for the benefit of the university and college teachers.

With all such multifarious academic activities the university has so far received reciprocal recognition from many Indian universities. It is a permanent member of the Inter University Board of India and Sri Lanka as well as that of the Association of Common Wealth University of London. The University has got NAAC accrediation with a rating of B+.

At present the Campus has eight teaching blocks, eight hostels, a health centre, an Engineering Office, a guest house, an M.E. School, a High School/Junior College, a Library, a Museum-cum-Archival Cell, a landing ground, a Play ground, a Sports Council centre, a shopping complex, a Canteen, an S.B.I. Branch, a Post Office, three temples and an Administrative Building with a Distant Education Cell and a College Development Council.

On the whole for past many decades the university has remained as the symbol of glory and prosperity for the people of South Orissa. Sambalpur University

The long cherished dream of the people of Western Odisha came true, and the indefatigable efforts of the academicians, intellectuals and political leaders of the region bore fruit when Sambalpur University Act was passed on 10 December, 1966. Sambalpur University came into being and became functional from 1 January, 1967, with Dr Parsuram Mishra as the Vice Chancellor. Dr Zakir Hussain, the then President of India, laid the foundation stone of the present campus on 5 January, 1968,  at Jyoti Vihar, Burla, at a distance of 15 kms from Sambalpur city and 7 kms from the famous Hirakud Dam. Since 1973 the administrative, academic and residential buildings of the University have been located at the Jyoti Vihar campus sprawling over 630 acres of land amidst sylvan surroundings.
Sambalpur University has 204 colleges affiliated to it. These are spread over 10 districts of Odisha, namely Sambalpur, Sudargarh, Jharsuguda, Deogarh, Bargarh, Bolangir, Subarnapur, Nawapara, Kalahandi, Boudh and Athmalik subdivision of Angul, which constitute about one third of area of the state. The University has been trying to ensure high academic standards in these colleges and fulfil the academic aspirations of thousands of students, many of whom belong to economically backward and underprivileged sections of the society.
The University has twenty-two Postgraduate Departments offering courses in thirty-four subjects for M.A., M.Phil and PhD programmes. Within interdisciplinary framework the departments have formed seven schools in the fields such as Languages and Literatures, Social Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Bio Sciences, Bio-Social Studies, Physical Sciences & Nuclear Physics and Chemical Sciences & Applied Chemistry. Many self-finance courses in Master of Finance and Control, Master of Social Work, M.Tech. in Environmental Science and Engineering, M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry, M.Tech. in Food and Science Technology, M.Sc. in Food Sciences and Nutrition, and Postgraduate Diploma in Translation Studies, M.A. in Performing Arts are special features of the postgraduate teaching programmes of Sambalpur University.  The central library of the University, named after reputed academician Prof Bhubaneswar Behera, caters to the needs of the academic community with its of stock of nearly 1 lakh 29 thousand books and 29 thousand  back volumes. In addition, the teaching departments have their respective seminar libraries.
The University has an up-coming institute SUIIT (Sambalpur University Institute of Information Technology), as a constituent and autonomous institute on the line of IIITs, on the campus with its buildings. It offers B.Tech., M.Tech. and M.Sc programmes in Computer Sciences, Electronics and Telecommunication, Bioinformatics and allied subjects.

The Ukal University, established in the year 1943, is the seventeenth oldest University in India. Its present campus at Vani Vihar, BHUBANESWAR is located on a sprawling 399.9 Acre area in the heart of BHUBANESWAR, with the Sainik School to its north, National High way No.5 to its south, Regional Research Laboratory and Institute of Physics to its west and the South Eastern Railway line to its east. The Foundation stone of this Campus was laid by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India on 1st January 1958 and the Campus was inaugurated by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the second President of India on 2nd January 1963. This is a teaching-cum-affiliating University. There are at present twenty-seven Post-Graduate Departments located in the University Campus for Post-Graduate studies and research in various disciplines of Science, Humanities ,Business Administration, Social Science, Law and Commerce. The total number of students in the P.G. Department of the campus at Vani Vihar is nearly 3,000. This is in fact the largest affiliating University in the country with approximately 267 affiliated Colleges (Degree Colleges-219, Professional College-44, Other Constituent Colleges-2) under its jurisdiction.

The University has now the jurisdiction over 9 districts, viz, Angul, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khurda, Nayagarh and Puri and is spread over an area of 24,973 sq. kilometers catering to the needs of higher education of a population of more than 110 lakhs.

Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship

Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship Terms and Conditions 2017/18
This scholarship is only available to full-time students and will only be paid once for each eligible level of study, subject to meeting progression requirements, regardless of the reason for repeating a level.

30 scholarships will be allocated conditionally in March, prior to September entry, to those applicants who completed the scholarship application form by 7 March 2017 and who meet the following eligibility criteria:

Must meet the entry criteria for a programme of study within the scholarship scheme for the year of entry.
Must achieve one of the following qualifications and grades:
3 A-Levels with grades AAA or above
International Baccalaureate Diploma with 35 points or above
3 Scottish Advanced Highers with grades AAA
Higher Irish Leaving Certificate from 5 subjects with grades H2, H2, H2, H2, H3 under the new grading system and AAAAB under the old grading system.
BTEC Extended Diploma with grades D*D*D*
Equivalent of 3 A-Levels grade AAA from a recognised EU qualification, see appendix 1 of these terms and conditions for details.
(UCAS tariff equivalencies or combinations of qualifications will not be accepted)

Must have submitted a completed scholarship application by 28 February 2017.
Must make Brunel University London their firm choice through UCAS by 20 July 2017.

The scholarship will be in the form of £6,000 cash or fee waiver, each year for a maximum of three years, provided that the progression criteria, as shown in section 3 of these Terms and Conditions, have been met. A separate scholarship is available during the placement year for those who meet the criteria.

Scholarships will be allocated conditionally to those applicants who meet the eligibility criteria and who are selected by the College scholarship awarding panels as being the strongest applicants, as demonstrated through their scholarship and UCAS applications.

Holders of the scholarships will be expected to act as role models for the University and to contribute to the life of the University. By accepting a scholarship/bursary the student is agreeing to become a Student Ambassador for the University. As a student ambassador, students will be expected to participate occasionally in various activities to help promote the University. This might for example include hosting tours of the campus and its facilities, providing administrative support at Open Days, participating in social media and other marketing activity. In addition holders of the scholarship may be invited to events, such as receptions, and there is an expectation that they take part in these.

1. Eligibility

Those not eligible for this scholarship:

Students who have made Brunel their Firm choice in Clearing or Adjustment.
Students who transfer from another institution.
Students funded by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) i.e. Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.
Those on the final year of the MEng or MMath or MMath in Financial Mathematics (where a fee waiver will be applied).
Those on a Foundation year. Foundation year students will be considered for a scholarship/bursary following successful progression into year 1.
All scholarships and bursaries will be considered and awarded in year 1 of the course only, with the exception of the Care Leaver Bursary, which will be awarded in Year 0.
Applicants entering the University in Year 2/Level 2 will not be considered for any scholarship or bursary, with the exception of the Care Leaver Bursary.
2. Allocation

2.1 Eligibility criteria are reviewed annually.

2.2 Scholarships/bursaries are awarded to those who meet the eligibility criteria at the time of allocation.

2.3 Students are considered for scholarships/bursaries using the information provided at the time of their application only and cannot be considered should their circumstances change during the course of their studies. Scholarships/bursaries cannot be backdated.

2.4 Only one scholarship/bursary can be paid to any one student in any one year with the exception of the Care Leaver and the David Sands Civil Engineering Scholarship.

2.5 Undergraduate Academic Excellence scholarships will be awarded conditionally in March and confirmed in early September, following receipt of A-Level results.

2.6 Foundation year students will be considered for a scholarship/bursary following successful completion of their foundation year.

2.7 Deferred applicants will be considered for a scholarship/bursary in the year they start their course and not in the year of their course application.

2.8 The decision of the allocation panel is final. The University will not accept any appeals in respect of the decisions made by the Panel.

Dublin City University is proud to award merit-based scholarships to high achieving students who enter the Faculty of Engineering and Computing and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences for the 2016/17 academic year. These scholarships are available to Indian applicants only and are based on academic merit to those who have a Full Offer.

The Faculty of Engineering and Computing and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences automatically award scholarships of €1,000 to students entering Masters programmes presenting a Bachelor degree with a first class award at 70% and above.

The Faculties also award scholarships of €1,000 to high achievers entering Masters and Bachelor programmes who are ranked by academic achievement.

Indian applicants must meet our academic and English language entry requirements and have a Full Offer in ordered to be considered.
