Humburg University Academic scholarships for Master students

Hamburg University of Applied Sciences awards scholarships to academically strong foreign students studying in Master degree programmes*.

Scholarship:   up to 400 Euros/month (4 months per semester)
The scholarship is for one semester; an extension for a further two semesters is possible.

Scholarship prerequisites:

Applicants must be enrolled in a Master’s programme* at the HAW Hamburg
Applicants must have completed their school education outside of Germany or have graduated from a Studienkolleg
Applicants must not be eligible for BAföG**

* Master students in Design (Illustration, Communication Design, Fashion- Textile and Costume Design) cannot apply for a scholarship.
** If you fulfill the basic application criteria according to §8 of the BAföG law (Federal Training Assistance Act), you will not be eligible for this scholarship according to the scholarship regulations. This is independent of whether you actually receive funding from BAföG or not.

Academic requirements:

Applicants must fulfill one of the following academic requirements:

a) Non-engineering students: completion of a Bachelor’s degree or Diplom in the “Regelstudienzeit” with a grade of at least 2.0 (or equivalent to German system, if the degree is from outside Germany)

b) Engineering students: completion of a Bachelor’s degree or Diplom in the “Regelstudienzeit” with a grade of at least 2.2 (or equivalent to German system, if the degree is from outside Germany)

c) All grades for the first semester in a Master’s programme at the HAW Hamburg better than at least 2.5, also for extensions.

Ideally students should also have completed an internship and have been involved in a social project or worked as a volunteer.

 Application Process:

Housing Emergency Fund

The Housing Emergency Fund is provided by the University to address urgent student housing needs. If you are a current student threatened with homelessness owing to financial hardship, well being reasons or other circumstances beyond your control you should apply for help.

Eligibility

Is this for you?

Registered students of the University shall be eligible to apply to the Fund if they meet the following criteria:

A payment from the fund would make a significant contribution to your ability to continue your studies successfully; and
You have an urgent housing need that can be addressed through an award by the fund; and
You are unable to meet the immediate costs of your housing needs through your existing funding.

The level of award will be judged on a case to case basis. Awards are around £300-£500 and are intended to meet immediate short term housing need. Because of this the fund cannot be used to replace a regular income. Awards will normally be made in the form of a grant.

The Kapila Hingorani Postgraduate Scholarship is exclusively for India domiciled students who will study LLM/MA Advanced Human Rights in September 2016.

What is the Kapila Hingorani Postgraduate scholarship?

The Department of Law and Criminology at Sheffield Hallam University is offering a full fee scholarship for LLM/MA Advanced Human Rights to students domiciled in India.

Who was Kapila Hingorani?

Kapila Hingorani was a prominent Indian human rights lawyer. She is well-known in India as the leading advocate in the pro-bono fight for the underprivileged. Her daughter, Priya, is the vice president of the Supreme Court Bar Association in India and has conducted public interest cases on behalf of disadvantaged sections of society and on socio-legal issues. Priya contacted Sheffield Hallam about launching a scholarship in memory of Kapila. The Department of Law and Criminology agreed to launch the Kapila Hingorani Postgraduate Scholarships.

Who can apply?

To be eligible to apply for one of these scholarships you must

What happens if I am successful?

Your offer letter will be updated to reflect your scholarship award. After enrolment, you will be invited to a scholarship ceremony to celebrate your achievement. You will also be expected to represent Sheffield Hallam University through various activities during the academic year and after graduation.

Charpak Masters Scholarships for Indian Students Criteria

How to Apply
Step 1: Download

Read the application form carefully and fill each section of the Word format document by using Arial, font size 10. Do not alter the format of the application form.

Your statement of purpose should explain why you chose the French institution to which you have applied or have been admitted, as well as your future plans upon completion of the course. Explain why you would be a worthy candidate for the scholarship. Mention how you initially came to know about the Charpak program. Your statement of purpose should be one page long (maximum length). Important – ensure that your statement of purpose is original.

Step 3: Submit

scanned copy of the first page of your passport (with photo and expiry date). If you will be getting your passport after the deadline, please attach passport application proof.
your full Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages)
Scanned copy of your admission/acceptance letter from the French higher education institution. If you have not received it before the deadline, attach an email correspondence to show that you are in the process of getting the acceptance letter from them.

Charpak Masters Scholarships for Indian Students

This scholarship is designed for one to two years of studies in France at the Master’s degree level.

Please note that no reason will be given for rejection of an application. The French Embassy is not obliged to respond to candidates whose applications are incomplete. Incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration.
Applicant must:

  • be an Indian national and reside in India.
  • be a student currently enrolled at an Indian Institution of higher learning or a young professional employed in a company for a maximum of 3 years at the time of application
  • be 30 years old maximum
  • the course must take place in France. If you have one semester or more of studies in another country, the scholarship will not be provided during that period.
  • An exception will be made for Charpak scholarship holders who are currently completing their M1 in France. They may reapply for a second year of funding in order to complete their M2. There is no automatic renewal of the scholarship at the M2 level. Acceptance will be subject to academic performance at the M1 level and a new statement of purpose.
  • Non-scholarship holders currently pursuing M1 in France are not eligible for the scholarship.

Selection Procedure: Your application will be selected on the basis of your academic excellence, as well as the consistency and quality of your statement of purpose. There is no CGPA / percentage cut-off for the scholarship. Knowledge of French will be an asset but is not mandatory. A tie-up between your current Indian institution and your future French institution will also be an asset.

Out of the four scholarships being offered as part of the NDTV-Deakin Scholarship program, one Postgraduate degree with 100% tuition fee waiver has been awarded to a deserving candidate in the first phase. In the second phase, applications for scholarships for two UG and one PG studies onshore at Deakin University are now open.

About the NDTV-Deakin Scholarship Program

NDTV has been a pioneer in the Indian TV journalism space and has often leveraged the power of its reach to bring about positive changes in society and to solve real world problems through dedicated and innovative programing.

Deakin, one of Australia’s most progressive University, has initiated a campaign called “Changing 100 Lives” which aims to enable students to access, participate and achieve a higher education regardless of their location, socio-economic status or family situation.

The NDTV Deakin Scholarship program is now entering into its second year. The inaugural edition of the scholarship in 2015 received over 400 applications for the 100% tuition fee scholarship that was on offer. Sanskriti – Geddes Scholarship

Sanskriti – Geddes Scholarship

The Sanskriti Foundation invites applications for its annual Geddes Scholarship for the study of the methodology and principles of Geddes town planning from students of planning and architecture/young professionals.

Sanskriti has also expanded the scope by including other institutions, like schools who would be interested in sensitizing school children at a time when they are reading history and social sciences. By way of a School Project, incorporating Geddes’ ideas, children will be introduced to the concepts of architecture and town planning.

The scholarship has been instituted in the joint memory of Patrick Geddes and his son Arthur Geddes, both of whom had a long association with India. The work of Patrick Geddes continues to serve as a catalyst for today’s sustainable city movement. Patrick Geddes spent almost a decade in India after coming out during the First World War. He was impressed by India’s urban centers, and what he saw as a spirit of harmony between architecture, water-bodies, public spaces and trees.

Eligibility
The scholarship is only open to Indian Nationals in the age group of 20 to 30.The applicant must be a student of planning and architecture at a graduate/postgraduate/research level from a recognized university or institution and /or young practicing professionals. The applicants can be an individual or can be a collaborative work of a group of individuals.

Objective
The objective of the scholarship is to promote and advance interest in and understanding of Patrick Geddes’ principles of town planning. This scholarship will provide an opportunity to create awareness among young planners and architects of Geddes’ principle of ‘place, work, and folk’.

Terms
The duration of the scholarship will be six months. The scholarship of Rs. 45,000 will be given in two phases; the first installment at the commencement of the scholarship and the second installment after the submission of the complete project report.
Three months after the commencement of the work, an interim report should be submitted to the coordinator. The report will be circulated to the Committee who may offer comments to the researcher to consider. The final report when submitted will also be reviewed by the committee and any changes required can be incorporated.
On the successful completion of the study the candidate may be invited to present the findings in a seminar in Delhi.

Agreement
The applicant will have to sign an agreement with Sanskriti Pratishthan pertaining to a regular flow of work during the scholarship period. The candidate should not be holding another scholarship/fellowship or working on any other project at the same time. In the event of non-completion and non-compliance to any of the terms and conditions mentioned above the scholarship amount must be returned.

How to Apply
Interested Candidates should send a two page CV. The Full postal and telephonic contact details together with E-mail id should be submitted to facilitate contact. The proposal should not merely be a compilation of reports but should contain a well researched proposal which would advance the application of the Geddes ideas, a plan of action including field visits and the availability of archival material relevant to that study. A bibliography of the reports, websites browsed should accompany the proposal.

The proposal can also focus on a section of the city/mohalla. The applicant has to expose the methodology of diagnostic survey and conservative surgery as a visible strategic option for the renewal of cities in India.

Priority will be given to such proposals which traces and advances the relevance of Geddes’ ideas and work The project proposal should be written in 1500 words with reference to the specific city /section/mohalla.

The names and contact addresses/telephones of two referees should also be sent. The application should bear the title ‘Sanskriti – Geddes Scholarship ’ on the envelope if sent by post on head office address and in the subject line if e-mailed on fellowships@sanskritifoundation.org
