Cyber Security Fellowship

The Chevening Cyber Security Fellowship is aimed at mid-career professionals with demonstrable leadership potential in the field of cyber security or cyber policy in India.

This programme provides fellows with an understanding of policy and legislative approaches in cyber security and its implications for national security, commercial opportunity, crime prevention, and the right to privacy.

The programme is funded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

About the fellowship programme

The Chevening Cyber Security Fellowship is a 12-week fully funded residential programme delivered at Cranfield University at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom.

The programme will focus on:

  • Cyber threats, including: the threat landscape, threat and risk assessment, the implications for national security, and the relevance of internet governance structures; and the protection of critical national infrastructure;
  • The economics of online business,  cyber security consumer awareness and consumer protection, technology adoption challenges, the relevance of open source, and effective technology adoption by consumers;
  • Cyber-crime and Internet law, including the economic impact of cyber-crime, domestic and international approaches to countering cyber-crime, Internet law, law enforcement concerns, privacy concerns, the use and abuse of social media, and accountability in cyberspace;
  • Relevant issues and challenges particular to the UK and India.

The programme will commence in March 2017.

What does this fellowship include?

Each fellowship includes:

  • Full programme fees
  • Living expenses for the duration of the fellowship
  • Return economy flight from India to the UK

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for a Chevening Cyber Security Fellowship, you must:

  • Be a citizen of India and currently live in the country. You must not hold British nationality.
  • Have at least seven years’ relevant work experience prior to applying.
  • Have significant work experience in cyber security or cyber policy issues, either as a policy formulator, commentator, or academic.
  • Have an excellent academic background in science, engineering or technology, or considerable experience of working in such fields and good working knowledge of English to be assessed by qualified English language assessor.
  • Have a postgraduate level qualification (or equivalent professional training or experience in a relevant area) at the time of application.
  • Agree to adhere to all relevant guidelines and expectations for the programme.

STAGE II – THE THE PHONE INTERVIEW

After we have reviewed your application form and completed AMCAT test, we may have some additional questions for you. If so, you will be invited to attend a 30-minute phone interview with one of our team members. Here we will ask follow-up questions to gain further information that will be helpful in our evaluation.
STAGE III – THE ASSESSMENT CENTRE

If successful in your application, you will be invited to the final stage of our selection process – an in-person Assessment Centre. Here, you will teach a 5-minute lesson, take part in a group discussion and complete a short problem solving activity. You will also have an hour-long personal interview with one of our staff members. If you are based abroad and cannot attend one of our in-person Assessment Centres, we will conduct your interview and relevant activities over Skype.

Teach For India Fellowships

The Teach For India Fellowship program, is an opportunity for India’s brightest and most promising youth, from the nation’s best universities and workplaces, to serve as full-time teachers to children from low-income communities in some of the nation’s most under-resourced schools. STAGE I – THE APPLICATION FORM AND ONLINE TEST

The application form is an opportunity for us to get to know you. It can be as detailed as you want it to be. Through the application we will understand why you want to join Teach For India and why you would be a strong fit for the Fellowship.

Once you submit your application you will receive a link to a 1.5 hour online test (AMCAT) which focuses on logical reasoning and English language ability. This must be completed within 4 days from the date you submit your application form. Your application will not be complete until you complete the test.

Selection Procedure:
The Scholarships entail the following process:

The applicants: 160 students from the IIMs and XLRI, 160 students from the IITs and BITS (Pilani) and 80 students from law campuses will be evaluated on the basis of the information given in the application form.

The students’ overall achievements spanning academic and co-curricular excellence will be assessed to select him/her for the next round.

Essays written by these students will then be reviewed by a panel to shortlist candidates for the final round.

Shortlisted students will be invited for an interview which will determine the best 16 students each from – engineering and management and 8 from law who will be named Aditya Birla Scholars.

Overview:Newcastle University is delighted to announce eight scholarship awards for students from India. This award is available for high achieving students applying for entry onto any postgraduate Master’s degree programme at Newcastle University.

Eligibility Criteria:In order to be eligible to apply for one of these scholarships you must satisfy the following conditions:

  • you must be a Indian national and have been assessed as international/overseas for fees purposes
  • you must hold a Conditional or Unconditional offer on any master’s degree programme at Newcastle city campus
  • you intend to register to start your studies during the 2016-17 academic year
  • you are a self-funded student and not in receipt of other University or external awards
  • you must have an average of 60% or above in your Bachelors degree. Eligibility details

You can apply for this scholarship if you’re an international student and you:
have received an offer to study a Faculty of Education undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree
are commencing your studies in the upcoming semester. (Only EU70 students will commence in semester 2.)

You can’t apply if you’re:

enrolled in a double degree, dual award degree or research higher degree
sponsored by an Australian or overseas organisation
already receiving a scholarship provided by QUT or another organisation.

What you receive

You’ll receive:
a scholarship worth $2,000 to put towards your studies in your commencing semester.
We award four scholarships to students starting in Semester 1, and one scholarship to students starting in Semester 2.
