Rotary Peace Fellowships

Each year, Rotary selects up to 100 professionals from around the world to receive fellowships to study at one of our peace centers.

Through academic training, practice, and global networking opportunities, the Rotary Peace Centers program develops leaders who become catalysts for peace and conflict prevention and resolution. These fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and all internship and field-study expenses.

In just over a decade, the Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 1,000 fellows for careers in peace building. Many of them are serving as leaders at international organizations or have started their own foundations.

Check out the Rotary Peace Map to see where our alumni are creating positive change.

Our fellowships:Each year, Rotary awards up to 50 fellowships for master’s degrees and 50 for certificate studies at premier universities around the world.

Master’s degree programs: Last 15 to 24 months and require a practical internship of two to three months during the academic break.

Professional development certificate program: For experienced professionals and lasts three months with two to three weeks of field study.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts where you develop your skills as a leader while having fun and making connections.

What are the benefits?

  • Connect with leaders in your community and around the world to:
  • Build communication and problem-solving skills
  • Discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader in your school or community
  • Learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors
  • Unlock your potential to turn motivation into action
  • Have fun and form lasting friendships

What’s involved?

RYLA events are organized locally by Rotary clubs and districts for participants ages 14-30. Depending on community needs, RYLA may take the form of a one-day seminar, a three-day retreat, or a weeklong camp. Typically, events last 3-10 days and include presentations, activities, and workshops covering a variety of topics.

Your community might host a RYLA event for secondary school students to hone their leadership potential, for university students to develop creative problem-solving strategies, or for young professionals to learn ethical business practices.

How can I get involved?

RYLA participants are nominated by local Rotary clubs. Contact your local Rotary club to find out more about RYLA events in your area, how to apply, and any costs of getting involved.

Are you a member or alumnus of Interact, Rotaract, or Rotary Youth Exchange? RYLA can reconnect you with Rotary. Attend a local, regional, or international RYLA event to continue building your leadership skills or volunteer as a peer mentor.

Want to organize a RYLA event?

Energize the next generation of community leaders through Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. Not only will RYLA help young people develop their potential as service-minded leaders, it will energize and inspire your Rotary club and challenge you to discover your own power to be an influential community leader.

John Dillon Fellowship

John Dillon Fellowship
The John Dillon Memorial Fellowship was established by ACIAR in recognition of Professor John L. Dillon’s life-long support for international agricultural research. The Fellowship scheme serves the memory of John Dillon by providing career development opportunities for outstanding young agricultural scientists or economists from ACIAR partner countries who are involved in a current or recently completed ACIAR project. 8-10 Fellowships are offered annually.
The Fellowship aims to develop leadership skills in the areas of agricultural research management, agricultural policy and/or extension technologies. This is achieved by providing exposure to Australian agriculture across a range of best-practice organisations involved in research, extension and/or policy making.
The visit programs are tailored by negotiation between ACIAR and the selected Fellow to meet the needs of individual Fellows and their employing organisation. Arrangements for the Fellowships will be flexible, and the following points are intended to indicate features of the program:
  • Fellowships normally involve a 5-6 week period in Australia.
  •  Fellows are hosted by 1-2 Australian organisations (such as a Federal Government Department, a University, a Cooperative Research Centre or State Department of Agriculture) where they spend at least 50 % of their Fellowship period.
  •  Fellows participate in a formal research management training course in Australia.
  • Fellows undertake a structured program of visits to various institutes, including the presentation of relevant lectures.

National Institute of Science Education and Research – NISER

About National Institute of Science Education and Research – NISER :An Autonomous Institute under DAE, Government of India .  A primary objective of the Institute is to train and nurture human resources in the Sciences for the knowledge economies of the future. This is in line with a general shift in geo-political thinking that requires a remedy for sites of knowledge production centred in the west. Such a strategic shift in perspective has been necessitated by the realization that the unique circumstances of our nation demand unique scientific and pedagogic responses. Consequently, we are called upon to question and account for conventional narratives that stake claims to categorizations of science, technology, environment, learning, innovation, design and being. The predominant discourse that seeks to structure these superficially hard categories is predicated on justifications that till date have not moved beyond regimes of hierarchy, control and access. These strictures are an inherent feature of “Institutionalized Science” where Newtonian principles of organizing domains of cognition and mechanisms of representation constrain debates on what new conceptualizations of science ought to be like. More problematically this stifles the potential for interdisciplinarity just when everybody talks its language. This means we continue to think in and with strait jacketed binaries such as natural / artificial or being /thing and perhaps most dangerously science / everything else. The founding of this Institute is rooted in the understanding that the contexts we inhabit are dynamic and in flux, while we have not begun to think in terms of solutions to most of these problems we realize that they exist and that we need to quickly participate in the process of finding out some answers.

NISER recognizes that modern scientific research is carried out in interstices amongst fuzzy domains and blurred boundaries. This entails encouraging a new scientific culture where members of our community attain to an intellectual agility unconstrained by the limitations of disciplinary conventions from the past. Faculty and Students will be given generous material support in the pursuit to realize this objective. Time and conversational space will be devoted to nascent propositions and hypothesis and the significantly small student-faculty ratio, an eventual full strength of 2000 students and 300 faculty, manifests the Institutes investment and hope in the future.

Internshala Career Scholarships for Girls

The Internshala Career Scholarship for Girls is an annual award of INR 25,000/- meant to help advance one girl’s career in her chosen field. Instituted in 2012, the inspiration for this scholarship lies in the sad coincidence that the Delhi rape victim’s (Nirbhaya case) struggle for life ended on the same day that Internshala celebrates its anniversary (29th December). The scholarship is meant to recognize a girl who has fought against odds to pursue a career of her dreams in any field (Academics, Sports, Arts etc.).

Who is eligible for the scholarship?

Any girl (an Indian national) between the ages of 17 to 23 years (as of 31st December 2016), i.e. born between 1st January 1993 and 31st December 1999 with a career objective is eligible to apply.

What is the scholarship amount?

The scholarship is a one-time reward of INR 25,000/-

What is the purpose of this scholarship?

The scholarship is meant to advance the girl’s career in some way – be it an allowance for pursuing an internship or undertaking a project in the chosen field, payment towards a specialized training program, special equipment, etc.

What are the selection criteria?

Your application will be evaluated on the following criteria:

An element of fighting against odds – these can be financial, societal, physical handicap or anything that might have put obstacles in your path.
An element of achievement – you must have done remarkably well in your chosen field, be it academics, sports, music or arts.
An element of purpose – the purpose for which you will use the scholarship amount.
An element of need – everything else being the same, the scholarship would be awarded to someone who is in greater financial need.
What is the application process?

The application process consists of three steps-

Online form – Submission of application.
Interview – A short-list for an interview (in person or telephonic) would be announced and interviews would be conducted. You would be asked to furnish all necessary documents and proofs before the interview.
Referee check – After the interview, your referee (provided in the form) would be contacted for verification, after which the final winner would be selected and announced.
How and when will the amount be paid?

Wherever possible, the amount will be paid directly towards the cause at the time of the need through the referee provided in the form.

What is the application deadline?

Students can submit their applications before 31st January 2017.

When will the results be announced?

The results for ICSG-2017 will be announced on 28th February 2017.

How many candidates would be shortlisted for interview?

There is no lower or upper limit for the shortlist. We would shortlist as many deserving candidates as possible.

How would you verify the information provided by an applicant?

The shortlisted candidates would be required to furnish all necessary documents and proofs before the interview. After the interview, the referee would be contacted for verification.
