John Dillon Fellowship

John Dillon Fellowship
The John Dillon Memorial Fellowship was established by ACIAR in recognition of Professor John L. Dillon’s life-long support for international agricultural research. The Fellowship scheme serves the memory of John Dillon by providing career development opportunities for outstanding young agricultural scientists or economists from ACIAR partner countries who are involved in a current or recently completed ACIAR project. 8-10 Fellowships are offered annually.
The Fellowship aims to develop leadership skills in the areas of agricultural research management, agricultural policy and/or extension technologies. This is achieved by providing exposure to Australian agriculture across a range of best-practice organisations involved in research, extension and/or policy making.
The visit programs are tailored by negotiation between ACIAR and the selected Fellow to meet the needs of individual Fellows and their employing organisation. Arrangements for the Fellowships will be flexible, and the following points are intended to indicate features of the program:
  • Fellowships normally involve a 5-6 week period in Australia.
  •  Fellows are hosted by 1-2 Australian organisations (such as a Federal Government Department, a University, a Cooperative Research Centre or State Department of Agriculture) where they spend at least 50 % of their Fellowship period.
  •  Fellows participate in a formal research management training course in Australia.
  • Fellows undertake a structured program of visits to various institutes, including the presentation of relevant lectures.

Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship

Undergraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship Terms and Conditions 2017/18
This scholarship is only available to full-time students and will only be paid once for each eligible level of study, subject to meeting progression requirements, regardless of the reason for repeating a level.

30 scholarships will be allocated conditionally in March, prior to September entry, to those applicants who completed the scholarship application form by 7 March 2017 and who meet the following eligibility criteria:

Must meet the entry criteria for a programme of study within the scholarship scheme for the year of entry.
Must achieve one of the following qualifications and grades:
3 A-Levels with grades AAA or above
International Baccalaureate Diploma with 35 points or above
3 Scottish Advanced Highers with grades AAA
Higher Irish Leaving Certificate from 5 subjects with grades H2, H2, H2, H2, H3 under the new grading system and AAAAB under the old grading system.
BTEC Extended Diploma with grades D*D*D*
Equivalent of 3 A-Levels grade AAA from a recognised EU qualification, see appendix 1 of these terms and conditions for details.
(UCAS tariff equivalencies or combinations of qualifications will not be accepted)

Must have submitted a completed scholarship application by 28 February 2017.
Must make Brunel University London their firm choice through UCAS by 20 July 2017.

The scholarship will be in the form of £6,000 cash or fee waiver, each year for a maximum of three years, provided that the progression criteria, as shown in section 3 of these Terms and Conditions, have been met. A separate scholarship is available during the placement year for those who meet the criteria.

Scholarships will be allocated conditionally to those applicants who meet the eligibility criteria and who are selected by the College scholarship awarding panels as being the strongest applicants, as demonstrated through their scholarship and UCAS applications.

Holders of the scholarships will be expected to act as role models for the University and to contribute to the life of the University. By accepting a scholarship/bursary the student is agreeing to become a Student Ambassador for the University. As a student ambassador, students will be expected to participate occasionally in various activities to help promote the University. This might for example include hosting tours of the campus and its facilities, providing administrative support at Open Days, participating in social media and other marketing activity. In addition holders of the scholarship may be invited to events, such as receptions, and there is an expectation that they take part in these.
