Out of the four scholarships being offered as part of the NDTV-Deakin Scholarship program, one Postgraduate degree with 100% tuition fee waiver has been awarded to a deserving candidate in the first phase. In the second phase, applications for scholarships for two UG and one PG studies onshore at Deakin University are now open.

About the NDTV-Deakin Scholarship Program

NDTV has been a pioneer in the Indian TV journalism space and has often leveraged the power of its reach to bring about positive changes in society and to solve real world problems through dedicated and innovative programing.

Deakin, one of Australia’s most progressive University, has initiated a campaign called “Changing 100 Lives” which aims to enable students to access, participate and achieve a higher education regardless of their location, socio-economic status or family situation.

The NDTV Deakin Scholarship program is now entering into its second year. The inaugural edition of the scholarship in 2015 received over 400 applications for the 100% tuition fee scholarship that was on offer. The winner of the inaugural scholarship is now studying Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) at Deakin University. The selection process was telecasted in a series of two episodes on NDTV Prime.

As natural partners towards a common cause, of “Changing Lives”, the NDTV Deakin Scholarship Program was launched in April 2015 to offer one 100% tuition fee scholarship to a deserving candidate for enrolment for onshore studies at Deakin University in Australia.

2016 promises to be bigger and better. As part of NDTV Deakin Scholarship 2016, we will be offering four 100% tuition fee scholarships to meritorious applicants from India.

The objective of the NDTV Deakin Scholarship Program is to identify deserving students with meritorious academic history and holistic achievements for studies on-shore at Deakin University, Australia with the view of giving back to India the skills and experience which would make an impact to the society.

Visiting Scholar Programe – Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research

INDIRA GANDHI INSTITUTE OF DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH
Visiting Scholars Program 2016

Overview: The Visiting Scholar Programme (VScP ) has been instituted at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) as one of its outreach activities with the objective of supporting research being conducted by Ph.D. Scholars and junior faculty members of colleges and
universities in India

. The scholarship will enable up to five selected scholars to spend three months at a stretch at IGIDR  to work on a research proposal that can be satisfactorily completed during their stay.  Selected researchers can join the programme during any one of the following two blocks (i) between May 15,2016 and no later than October 15, 2016 (Block I), and (ii) between
October 15, 2016 and no later than March 31, 2017 (Block II).

Eligibility: At the time of application, applicants should possess a Master
s degree in any field and be registered for Ph.D. on a topic broadly involving any area of economics including energy and environmental policy. Applicants are required to submit their curriculum vitae (CV), a research
proposal and two letters of recommend ation. One of the letters of recommendation should be from the concerned Ph.D. supervisor in the case of a Ph.D. student, and the principal of the College/University in the case of a junior faculty member. Recommendation letters should clearly give the contact details of the referees

 Candidates should also mention in the application the preferred three
month period of stay at IGIDR.
Research Proposal: The proposal should focus on theoretical/empirical analysis of economic issues including those related to energy and environment. It should be strictly within 1,500 words, and its scope should be such that the project can be completed in three months. The research proposal should be accompanied by a signed certification by the applicant as well as by the concerned thesis supervisor/Principal, stating that the research proposal is original work of the applicant,and has not been submitted to any journal for publication.

Selection will be based on a joint evaluation of the CV, letters of recommendation and the quality of the research proposal submitted at the time of application.

Emoluments  Selected scholars will be paid a stipend of Rs.17,000
per month,reimbursed to and fro three tier AC train fare, and provided free accommodation on campus for their duration of stay

Requirements: Selected scholars will be required to submit a progress report of the research project at the end of six weeks and a complete research report along with a seminar presentation of the research findings at the end of the three month stay. Failure to submit the progress report
at the end of six weeks on time may lead to the termination of the scholarship programme. Once the research project is completed and published, the scholar should acknowledge IGIDR in an appropriate way
as will be indicated to them by IGIDR upon selection/joining
.
Application Deadline & Notifications: Applications can be sent electronically or by post to reach IGIDR by March 31, 2016 (Block I) between August 1
and August 31 , 2016 (Block II)

Letters of recommendation should be sent by the concerned persons directly to IGIDR via email/post by the respective last date for application.
The subject head for email and top of the envelope for post should

CLAT – Common Law Admission Test 2016

Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a non-statutory body created under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the convenience of the students seeking admission to various National Law Universities in the country. An entrance test is conducted to provide a list of candidates on the basis of ‘merit-cum-preference’ to each University for admission to their UG/PG programmes, as per the eligibility, reservation and other criteria laid down under the respective statutes of the participating Universities.

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), is an all India entrance examination, conducted on rotation by 17 National Law Universities (NLUs) for admissions to their Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate degree programmes. The 17 participating NLUs in the order of their year of establishment are:

The first CLAT Core Committee consisting of Vice-Chancellors of seven participating NLUs decided that a common entrance test shall be conducted by all the participating Universities on rotational basis in the order of their year of establishment. Accordingly, the first Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) was conducted in the year 2008. Presently there are 17 NLUs participating in CLAT and following the policy of rotation, the ninth Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2016) shall be conducted by Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab.
